Example Configurations

This topic provides some example Secure Gateway / Spool Host configurations for different situations.

Option A

Option A is minimal requirements with no failover servers, and is not recommended.

Development/Test:

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent, with a single Secure Gateway / Spool Host server shared between both environments.

Production:

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent - combined Secure Gateway and Spool Host.

Total: 2 VMs or servers.

Option B

Option B is minimal recommended requirements. It includes failover servers only in Production, and a separate combined Secure Gateway/Spool Host in Production.

Development:

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as a combined Secure Gateway and Spool Host.

Test:

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as a combined Secure Gateway and Spool Host.

Production:

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the primary Secure Gateway.

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the failover Secure Gateway.

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the primary Spool Host (necessary only if using SAP, Oracle EBS, or PeopleSoft).

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the failover Spool Host (necessary only if using SAP, Oracle EBS, or PeopleSoft).

Total: 4-6 VMs or servers

Option C

Option C is the best practice recommended requirements, with failover servers in all environments.

Development:

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the primary Secure Gateway.

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the failover Secure Gateway.

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the primary Spool Host (necessary only if using SAP, Oracle EBS, or PeopleSoft).

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the failover Spool Host (necessary only if using SAP, Oracle EBS, or PeopleSoft).

Test:

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the primary Secure Gateway.

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the failover Secure Gateway.

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the primary Spool Host (necessary only if using SAP, Oracle EBS, or PeopleSoft).

  • 1 Linux or Windows Platform Agent serving as the failover Spool Host (necessary only if using SAP, Oracle EBS, or PeopleSoft).

Total: 6-12 VMs or servers
