Working with Resources
If you have a Process Definition that requires a certain feature -- such as, for example, a printer, a particular OS, or an application -- you can make sure that Process Definition is sent only to Process Servers that support that feature using Resources.
A Resource is simply a named entity that represents a required feature.
-
To require a resource for a Process Definition, you can specify the Resource in the Resource field on the Process Definition's Process Control tab.
-
To specify that a given Process Server has a Resource available, you can add it to the Process Server's Resources tab.
Creating a Resource
To create a Resource:
-
Navigate to Definitions > Resources.
-
Click .
-
Specify a Partition and Name, and optionally a Description and Application.
-
To optionally assign the Resource to a Process Server, click the Process Server Resources tab, click Add, and then select the Process Server.
Deleting Resources
You can delete a Resource only if no other objects have relationships to it. For example, if there are still processes or Process Definitions that refer to a resource, the resource cannot be deleted until all references have been deleted. You can see all references to the resource under Related Objects in the Detail View.
Note: If a Process Definition is displayed with a timestamp in the name, this indicates that there still is a process that refers to a Resource required by that Process Definition. Even if you remove the Resource from the Process Definition, the Resource cannot be deleted until the executed process is deleted.
