Monitoring with Process Servers

You can set up a Platform Agent to retrieve monitoring data, such as CPU or memory usage, at intervals as short as two seconds. This can be useful for balancing load across SAP application servers.

To create a monitoring-only Process Server, install the appropriate Platform Agent on the remote server, but do not register it with your RunMyJobs instance. Then, create a Process Server with a PlatformAgentService, and specify at the least the Process Server parameter RemoteHostName. The Remote Port can be omitted if the Process Server runs on port 1555, and the SharedSecret should not be necessary, because only monitoring data is retrieved.

Procedure

To create a monitoring-only Process Server:

  1. Navigate to Configuration > Software and download the Platform Agent installer for the remote computer.
  2. Run the installer as you would on the remote computer.
  3. When the installer asks to register the Process Server, uncheck it or answer no (depending on the platform) and then complete the installation process.
  4. Navigate to Environment > Process Servers.
  5. Click .
  6. Click Monitoring Only and then click Next.
  7. Enter a Name and Default Time Zone.
  8. On the Process Server tab, add PlatformAgentService.
  9. On the Parameters tab, add a RemoteHostName with the FQDN of the remote server.
  10. Click Save & Close.
