Privileges Required to Use User Messages
To use User Messages, you need one of the following:
scheduler-administrator
orredwood-administrator
rolescheduler-job-administrator
role- object, system or partition-level permissions
One on the following privileges are required to reply to User Messages:
- Reply - privilege rank on User Message in its partition or system-wide as well as be a participant of the User Message or have received a delegation to reply to a User Message.
Using User Messages
The following privilege ranks are available on User Messages:
- Create - allows you to create a User Message on the level the privilege was granted (system, partition), you have no further privileges through this rank, you automatically get All privilege rank on User Messages you create.
- View - allows you to view a User Message on the level the privilege was granted (system, partition), you have no further privileges through this rank.
- Edit - allows you to create, view, and edit a User Message on the level the privilege was granted (system, partition).
- Delete - allows you to create, view, and delete a User Message on the level the privilege was granted (system, partition).
- All - full control over a User Message on the level the privilege was granted (system, partition).
You always need View privileges on the partition of the User Message.
User Messages can reference the following objects, you need at least View privileges on these objects as well as their partition(s) when you want to create/edit/delete a User Message that references them:
Built-in Roles
- The
scheduler-administrator
orredwood-administrator
built-in role provides full control over User Messages. - The
scheduler-viewer
built-in role provides read-only access to User Messages.
Creating User Messages
User Messages are jobs, so you need the privileges required to submit jobs as well as privileges to create User Messages:
- Create - privilege rank on User Message in its partition or system-wide.
Viewing User Messages
To successfully view User Messages, you must have one of the following privileges:
- View - privilege rank on User Message in its partition or system-wide.
- Edit - privilege rank on User Message in its partition or system-wide.
- Reply - privilege rank on User Message in its partition or system-wide.
- Delete - privilege rank on User Message in its partition or system-wide.
Replying to User Messages
To successfully reply to a User Messages, you must have the following privilege:
- Reply - privilege rank on User Message in its partition or system-wide as well as be a participant of the User Message or have received a delegation to reply to a User Message.
Note: Forwarded User Messages are read-only if the addressee is not a participant and/or has not received a delegation.
Adding Attachments to User Messages
When you use Redwood Server documents, the user needs View privileges on the document as well as all applications in the document path.
