Working with Resources
If you have a Job that requires a certain feature -- such as, for example, a printer, a particular OS, or an application -- you can make sure that Job is sent only to Job Servers that support that feature using Resources.
A Resource is simply a named Object that represents a required feature.
-
To require a resource for a Job Definition, you can specify the Resource in the Resource field on the Job Definition's Job Control tab.
-
To specify that a given Job Server has a Resource available, you can add it to the Job Server's Resources tab.
Creating a Resource
To create a Resource:
-
Navigate to Automate > Scheduling Tools > Resources.
-
Click New.
-
Specify a Partition and Name, and optionally a Description and Application.
-
To optionally assign the Resource to a Job Server, click the Job Server Resources tab, click Add, and then select the Job Server.
Deleting Resources
You can delete a Resource only if no other objects have relationships to it. For example, if there are still Jobs or Job Definitions that refer to a resource, the resource cannot be deleted until all references have been deleted. You can see all references to the resource under Related Objects in the Detail View.
Note: If a Job Definition is displayed with a timestamp in the name, this indicates that there still is a Job that refers to a Resource required by that Job Definition. Even if you remove the Resource from the Job Definition, the Resource cannot be deleted until the executed Job is deleted.
